Chicago Blues Fest, touring, label offers, delivering 200 cues to Harpo Productions, quitting the day job, beginning to work with www.rockforkids.org, forging ahead on several different projects. It certainly has been busy.

A few things:

CUBBY BEAR JANUARY 8th, 2010

I will be playing a set January 8th, from 10 till 1045 with my band at the world famous CUBBY BEAR. It will be your only chance to see me with the band for a while, Chicago!

You better come on out!!! i will be putting a flier on the website and myspace that will get you $2 off the $7 ticket price, and you'll be letting them know you're supporting your boy.

In the studio with Cedric Burnside and Lightnin Malcolm in MISSISSIPPI ; )

Last month, Cedric and Malcolm were in our studio in Chicago. This month, we brought a studio to them!

My brother, Mike, and I just got back to Chicago, the day before we left for Florida, from Byhalia, Mississippi, land of Cedric Burnside and Lightnin' Malcolm. We were in the studio with them, and produced some music that I am VERY excited about and I feel is very special. i think you will feel the same way.  We also had the chance to work with Afrississippi, www.myspace.com/afrissippi a Senegalese Blues artist who lives in Mississippi, Cody Burnside (Cedric's Brother), and Calvin Jackson (Cedric's father).

This project is called "The Underground Railroad", and i am very excited to start the mixing process on these amazing tunes. I think we're onto something VERY cool here. Check out some vids of our adventure in Mississippi at www.youtube.com/theherobros.

I also had a chance to play at "The Hut" in Holly Springs, MS, with one of Junior Kimbrough's sons bands, and i raised some serious sand. And the response of the older ladies there let me know, they like the Egyptorican blues boy! LOL...

The Muskadine Wine, Corn Liquor, and people there in Holly Springs can't be beat.

Great down home vibes and great times all the way around...

Its been quite the summer

From playing the Chicago Blues Festival with my band backing up Jeremy Spencer on the main stage (Thanks Jerry!), to our shows in St Louis and Florida, to successfully completing a submission of 200 cues to Harpo, we've been swamped, but feel very blessed. Life is GOOD!

Hey friends,

Hope all is well!! As I write this, summer is sadly fading away, and i know all of us here in Chicago are hoping we got every last ounce of fun out of it.

We've been working very hard here this summer, and have been having quite a good time in the process. We've successfully submitted 200 cues for the next season of the Oprah Winfrey Show, and have started to write and record for the next album.
So far so good!

VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE REVIEW OF A2C, April 09 Issue
Its title tells the literal path Dave Herrero took to this blistering debut. His playing and singing are tough and vulnerable at the same time, his choice of covers is marvelous, and his originals capture a classic vitality and feel without feeling like museum pieces.

Herrero proves adept shuffles like "I Don’t Believe", with in-your-face guitar that would make Elmore James smile and a solo with big, nasty bends. Combined with his wonderful, cocksure vocal, it works marvelously. On the original "Leave Me Be" he shows a real feel for a slow Chicago blues; guitar fills say a lot with one note and a very quiet, soulful solo gives the song distance from others' efforts. Another original, "(She's With) Another Man Tonight", is as a country blues tour de force with amazingly tight right-hand work and nasty slide. It's how acoustic blues should sound.

A couple cuts display a mastery of soul. "What Could Have Been" is an old-school ballad with a biting solo and passage where he trades fours with his own voice before a nasty solo gives him a chance to show off his chops.

This is a low-tech record (in the best sense) of a high-caliber performance. - John Heidt
